LECTURE
Bricoleur

Li Lin offered an input on the working methods of the bricoleur—a spirit of resensing, reworking, and repurposing. Drawing on Claude Lévi-Strauss’s concept of one who creates using what is already at hand rather than following pre-set plans, she traces this mindset through observations both in her own practices in Berlin and from a semi-rural context in southern China.
Reflecting on these improvisational practices, a critical question arises: how might we reimagine our relationship with the environment in more circular and caring ways—beyond the standardisation of mass production and global supply chains?
